What broke on the motor? The heads may be worth something, for instance.
If it doesn't stick to a magnet it is probably aluminum. |

stainless steel is non maganetic, and worth more then aluminum.
What happend to the engine and why cant it be repaired? I have a 96 and would like to know. How many miles on it?

head castings=aluminum
pistons=aluminum block casting=cast iron crankshaft/rods/wristpins/rings=steel camshafts/valves/springs/retainers/keepers=steel those are the major parts of the engine and what they are made of, I'm also curious to what happened, if the heads are undamaged they are worth much more than scrap
