Engine Troubles

I have a 1996 toyota with the 3.4 v6 and the motor blew up on it last week. I am wanting to do something with the old motor to try and recoop some $$$. I was going to take it to the local metal salvage yard and separate all the aluminum parts. Can anyone help me by either telling me what parts are all aluminum on that motor or by teaching me how to tell the differences between the different types ofo metal used in the motor.

also if you have any ideas on how i can get money out of this motor please let me know.

thanks,

What broke on the motor? The heads may be worth something, for instance.

If it doesn't stick to a magnet it is probably aluminum.

head castings=aluminum
pistons=aluminum
block casting=cast iron
crankshaft/rods/wristpins/rings=steel
camshafts/valves/springs/retainers/keepers=steel
those are the major parts of the engine and what they are made of, I'm also curious to what happened, if the heads are undamaged they are worth much more than scrap
