Battery Choices
so i will be getting a new battery for the 4runner whenever i get it back together.
to start off, i'll just get a stock replacement battery from where ever i can find one for cheap.
but when ever i start doing mods, i'm going to be needing to upgrade the battery for sure.
i'll end up running dual 12" Alpine Type R Subs (rated at 1500w peak each..can't remember RMS)
haven't decided on an amp yet..but it'll definitely be around over 1000w.
and i have a cheaper cd player in it, it's made my DUAL, does bluetooth, usb, ipod, cd, mp3. it's basically brand new though lol and works VERY well.
i'll be running some 6.5" speakers in the rear, and some new speakers in the dash. maybe some tweeters up front if i can find a nice place to stick em.
i will be upgrading the alt...i seen one upgrade somewhere on here, put out around 90-100amps at idle..and something like 145amp peak.
i will be upgrading the alt. wiring.
i will eventually be running a winch as well(XRC10), and some HID's on the front bumper, and my headlights will be converted to BI-xenon HID's.
that should be about it as far as electrical stuff..just trying to figure out which battery would be best for me? i don't know much about batteries lol

Id go with a walmart one! I got one in that has been there for years. This thing is old. I have only charged it once when i had a no start and cranked it a lot for a few days fixing it. But yeah it works great. Wouldn't buy anything different.

well ya see...i don't believe a walmart battery would be able to withstand the abuse of like say....a Diehard Platinum.
i mean, i don't think a walmart battery would be able to withstand the stuff i'm gonna have lol

Camo - after reading your post. I can easily answer your questions
I have 2 12" alpine type R subs, 1 2 channel 1000w kenwood amp bridged to both the subwoofers. along with a 4 channel 450w alpine amp hooked to all brand new alpine type S speakers. As far as a battery, I had a optima yellow top, but then the pulley ate the side of it, and I replaced it with a cheap 40 dollar battery. ( my next battery will be a DieHard platinum ) but as far as my experiences go. with the yellow top optima, I could go to the drive ins for 2 hours, watch the entire movie with the car off and it would turn over every time after the movie. ( i did this a couple times ) with my 40 dollar battery, I cannot play my stereo without the car being on for more than 15-20 minutes otherwise the battery dies... lol but to my knowledge, the Diehard platinum has more cranking amps ( statistically speaking ) than the optima yellow top. i think the platinum runs at 880, and the yellow top runs at 770.
If i were you i'd get a Diehard platinum. It'll be able to handle a stereo of that sort, including a winch and offroad lights easily.

I read your other thread asking me about batteries... lol so i answered it here
lol yeah. I love my stereo system to death, but lately ( since i've been getting into camping/expeditions ) its been getting in the way of packing I dont wanna get rid of it though because its been in the truck since i bought it ( first mod ) its funny because this stereo system has been in 4 different cars ( 2 of which weren't even mine ) because the system was stolen... twice. and both times I got it back. I've also gotten a ticket from it being too loud. he wrote on the ticket i was heard up to 500 feet... not likely, but still thats insane.

Did you have a red or yellow top? Yellow tops are not great for our vehicles. They are made to be run down alot and then recharge, not to have a constant alternator charge available to it, hence the 'deep cycle'. If you go with an Optima, go with a Red top.
That said, I don't know much else, I've had good luck with my Red Top so far.
