Alarm siren/speaker placement

for those of you with aftermarket alarms? where is the speaker for the siren located? ill be putting an alarm on mine soon (mainly to alert myself if something is happening) and was thinking about where the speaker would go. i cant put it where my PA is, thats too external and someone just has to cut the wires and it wouldnt make sound. are there good places back in the engine bay that are good for it? would it not be muffled too much tucked away somewhere? thanks!

Anywhere under the hood that wont cause damage or be damaged should be fine. These things are loud.
If you are worried about someone just cutting the wires they make a battery back up one that will go off regardless.

alright sounds good. i know about the battery backup but i meant just the speaker, they could cut the wires at the speaker itself and then it wouldnt make noise even if the alarm was activated, am i correct? or are the computers smart enough to know its been cut and then they do something else?

The one i had for my Tahoe it was all integrated, siren/back up.
If the alarm goes off and they cut the siren out. it should disable the vehicle, but then there is no loud noises to make people notice someone is rewiring everything to steal your stuff.
An Alarm just keep honest people honest. It will not deter a pro.

You can put the speaker/siren up against the firewall as high up as you can (assuming that you may try water crossings at some time) to keep it high and dry. Most places recommend that you point the siren down to keep water from collecting in it.

Some people have put them behind the grill facing out or down for maximum volume, but as you noted, the speaker wires can be cut. I don't know if the alarm brain can tell the siren wires have been cut, but the ignition kill should keep your truck from going anywhere (unless they are pros or really determined to get your vehicle).

Hope this helps,

Merlin
