96 4Runner Trailer Wiring

96 4Runner Trailer Wiring
Hi, I have a 96 4Runner that is having issues with the Trailer wiring. Basically the lights are not working as they are supposed to. When I turn on my blinker both lights start to blink. When I turn on my driving lights, only one of the lights turns on the trailer. I have isolated it to being a problem with the vehicle and not the trailer. I have replaced the wiring harness on the back of the vehicle. I still have the issue. My guess is that it is a problem with the Tail Light Converter. Does anyone know where the Tail Light Converter is located on the 96 Toyota 4Runner and how to access it? Any other ideas or suggestions.
Thank you

it's typically in the rear corner of the vehicle tucked behind the trim panel. Not sure for a 96-on a 99 it is on the drivers side-you may be able to take a more educated guess by following the 4 pin wiring harness and see if it enters the vehicle at passenger or drivers side rear.
Hopkins plug and play item works great. I have posted up about this.
search Hopkins tail light converter. Could be in 3rd gen 4Runner section and also over on T4R or google search works well also.
I recommend the Hopkins 4 pin LED indicator as well. At a glance you will be able to see what is functioning and what is not.
Stay in touch if you have not been able to solve this yet.
