Wrecked/rolled my '98 4runner
Craziest thing happened to me last night, and I thought I would share it with you folks. I was driving w/ a friend at around 8:00pm and got cut off, had to swerve to miss the car, lost all traction and was forced over the median into the oncoming lane. Thankfully there were no cars coming the other way, but the truck ended up laying over and skidding to a halt in about 100ft. Both of us are completely okay (my friend is pretty sore today, but it's nothing serious), but the truck is definitely totaled :( Does anyone have any sort of experience like this with insurance and all that? I'm wondering what i might be able to get for it. The 4runner is a '98 SR5, 3.4L manual 5-spd with 192k miles on it. I paid $5k for it a few months ago. Here are some pics from last night and today when i went to go grab some valuables.
Yota Jim's, anyone? This is from the sticker i had on my back right window
And these are from today in the tow lot

Thats a bummer man. Glad that you're ok. There are lots of people on here that have had similar accidents. Look around, use the search and I'm sure some of those people will post here too. You could always buy it back and make a trail rig with an exo cage . That is if it's 4x4. Anyways good luck and keep us posted.

5k would be an expensive unmodded wheeling rig! You'd get the most back from it if you parted it out yourself, looks like some goods there. Hopefully you turned it right off and didn't have the engine going without any oil pumping. That 3.4 could probably get you around a grand.
Did you have collision or just liability?

Coulda been way worse it really doesn't look to bad for being rolled. If it's 4wd I would definitely use it for offroad if possible
Driver side looks untouched. Just don't let anyone see the otherside haha

Thanks for the replies guys, I wasnt sure if this kinda thing would stir interest or not. Yeah it's a 4x4 and I did take it off road a few times already - i loved it and had big plans for it.
Haha, I thought about it - my tire was flat and the key was stuck in the ignition.
Well coming from a '91 accord less than 5 months ago, i can't blame myself for driving instinctively. I think i even tried to go into a power slide, haha. I probably woulda messed that chick up something fierce though, woulda hit her (some 18yo chick in a mustang) right in the driver's side.
Im still waiting till the holiday weekend is over to find out what i'll get from insurance, but you guys think parting it out would be the way to go? I would rather start fresh with another clean 3rd gen and build that up
kick the windshield out and drive it
I would have just hit the car that cut me off/slowed down. (it doesnt handle like a car) Probably minimal damage.....
