Since so many of us are building for the zombie apocalypse, where are we going to meet when it all goes down? Seems like a good idea. But seriously can you have a "final goal" when you drive a yota. I don't ever want to be "done".

This is my sentiment exactly.When I'm "done" with my 95 I'll probably buy and build a mid to late 80's 4runner and go a different direction with it... Maybe a 22ret with a sas instead of IFS.. Ahh the sky and my pocket book is the limit.
Oh and I vote for Colorado or Montana.. I like cold high altitude.... Zombie's don't like the cold.

Want it to be my DD and a camping rig. Since I have a 4Runner I can sleep in the back so currently I'm making it as cozy as possible.
But I want it to be offroad capable. Maybe a couple inches of body lift, some 33"s.
I'm not gonna be rock crawling it, but I would like to use it to explore some mountain trails with some buddies.

I vote for other, but maybe Safari/Expedition type of rig to explore back roads, trails, not so many rocks, and a daily driver is about right.
Right now the truck will get some mods, used on a couple of off road trips, and get set up for when I retire. After retirement, I plan to take off for a year and just travel around the US and Canada and see stuff. Might need to switch to a 4 runner, who knows.

to be a multi purpose rig on 40's. have it be street legal, be linked front and rear. rock crawl one weekend, go on a 500 mile trip the next, snow wheel it all winter long and have it still get me where i need to go for a DD.

I went with Safari/Expedition with minor mods, in all weather conditions. Pretty much where I am now.
This is the most versatile SUV I've ever owned, including all of the Toyota SUV's ever produced going back to 1st Gen 4R. I never tire of driving it anywhere, anytime, just running errands in the city or fully loaded (but nowhere near as loaded as your rig!) into the wilds of Oregon.
Lately I'm itching for a new head unit with nav and sat radio like on my new Camry, but otherwise there's nothing I'd change to fit my lifestyle.

I just traded my 94 IFS 4runner that I had put some time and money into for a 84 4runner. I think over all the straight axle is more capable and is now making me lean more toward crawling large rocks in moab!!! It needs work but there are a few major benifits to the 84 that the newer ones dont have with out alot of money shelled out. The straight axle of course but also the 4 cyl. is way better on gas and really not much a difference in power. The top comes off which makes summer time a blast and I can run a full cage inside making a sleeper crawler hahaha. I would like to eventually do long trips week or two without seeing any pavement!! Not sure if that is possible in the western states anymore but I will find that someday maybe a Washington to Alaska run is what it will take. I want my toyota to take me on a trip that the family can enjoy and some major stories bring back to the poker room at home. So far from my experience toyota is my favorite short track truck and I hope this website only gets better!!

To be honest I feel I have indeed reached my final goal...I have a DD that get over 22mpgs and can do 95% of the trails in the state of colorado...all with a stock suspension 31's and a rear aussie locker. good armor I fabed up and all in all one nice rig that turns heads...A lot of money and time but I can tell you I am DONE!!!

I am a conservative wheeler... That is, "save the machine" as much as possible, that way when I NEED to max it out, it's there and not ready to break (from hard wheeling) on me.
So mildly built, to tackle all extremes. Anywhere, anytime, and back!
Smallish tires with selectables so it's drivable and retains range (MPG), mostly dependent on the driver to overcome obstacles.
I am also HARD on my vehicles.
That's why I drive nothing but Toyota 22R/E trucks's...

4inch skyjacker lift kit, 33" firestone destination m/t, swaybar disconnects, rock rails, ARB front bumper, Warn 9.5xp winch, offroad rear bumper, some sort of homemade custom backrack system, moonvisor, possibly HIDs, dual transfer case, front and rear lockers. plus some more that I can't think of all in a daily driver.

I voted serious rock crawler in this poll months ago, but I have hit a point in my build where I don't know what direction I want to take with the rig anymore. I am torn between my original rock crawling goal and more of an all around do it all trail, camping rig that is more reliable and streetable. At this point the truck is not even so much as tagged or inspected, but I need to make up my mind between an SAS and buying a new trailer, or buy the blazeland kit and work on making it street legal and comfortable.
