There's plenty here. From easy fire roads to some potential body damage and everything in between. Now is the time for the desert too. You've got another 4 to 5 months of decent (not scalding) weather. Just remember that the daily temps out there can change 50 degrees between the hottest part of the days to the coldest part of the night.
Hit me up for any areas you're considering if you want.
There is a good Anza Borrego Desert State Park map and some books. Ocotillo Wells is within the Eastern part of the park too. Great for family camping too as well as hiking.

Mine has been on both sides, top and the rear bumper and both doors open and close fine. Didn't even break either side mirror. They just folded in. Did destroy the removable top, rear bumper, front bumper, grill and a fender though.
Like you said, it happens.

Beach-N-Toys. Not huge but strictly Yota.
They used to meet up at Filippis in Poway once a month.

Tierra Del Sol is all brands and is a big one.
Don't know of the other S.D. clubs.
