Radio has backlights, but doesn't turn on
Hello everyone,
1997 T100 SR5 with the cassette/cd player/radio/amp system here.
The radio used to work just fine, but at some point just quit. The unit still displays the backlighting when the truck lights are on, but nothing I can do will turn on the unit to display information or make any sound.
I've tried:
- pulling the unit and checking connections
- replaced fuse
- hold buttons 1 & 6 while pressing CD 3x (per FSM)
- and yes the dome light works
Is it possible that the stereo unit itself is just shot? Or might there be a simpler way to get it to get it to work? I've done my searching but found nothing and also tried to hook up another aftermarket radio but the connections just didn't match up.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

For the light, did you check the bulb and fuse?

Have yet to buy a bulb, but if that circuit is tripped it shouldnt mess with the radio, which is actually 1 year old from my 97 that was totalled, swapped back in the stock radio which worked when it was replaced, and it still didnt work. Checked the fuse, replaced the fuse...still no luck so im thinking theres an inline wire slice somewhere tho
