that's what I've heard

Joe-

re: trxus m/t's - i've heard the SAME thing from the heepster's that are loco in STL - they say they shed the "midwest mud" much better than BFG or GY tyres.

I'm going in on 'em....i've got sidewall damage to my P.o.s. tyres.

I have been running my Truxus for about 15000 miles and I like them for the type of wheeling that I do here in Colorado. They do ride pretty good for an MT. As far as how long they are going to hold up, best guess would be about 25000-30000 miles tops. But then again they are MT's and if you really think that you are going to get or expect to get more mileage then that, you should buy AT's. I think rating tires here on yotatech is subjective at best.
Giving all the variables of each persons rig ,driving habits, offroad use and just overall preference of tires. I think the best thing to do is ask opinions and take it from there. Hope this helps.....Doug

Balancing was great when they first went on the stock yota wheels but not as good when I switched to these wheels that are on now. These wheels have to much offset and don't have anywhere for them to put weights on both sides of the rim. I just don't think that the sticky weights on the inside work as good as the ones on both sides.
The funny looking animal on the roof is a hedgehog, we have 3 of them as pets. Doug

No way! you WHEEL with your hedgehog?!?! TOO COOL.....better keep it down or my daughter will want a naked mole rat to wheel with us!

Thanks for the balancing insight! I'm leaning pretty heavy toward these Trxus.

Aaron, I think you would like them and they are pretty inexpensive compared to alot of tires out there. Like I said mileage wise they aren't going to last that long but hey that's OK. I have a tendency to get rid of my tires long before they need it anyway.
For me in the future I am leaning towards MT's, Toyo, Cooper, BFG, Truxus 50/50?

A buddy of mine has a hedgehog, greatest college pet ever, small, easy to take care of and keeps to intself until we all want to play.

As for the tires, the Truxs seem to be taking the off road world by storm. I know one person who has them and is extreamly happy with them, other than the wear issue, he's right about 30K and he maybe has another 5-8K lerft in them. Not bad for an MT tire at all. I'm leaning heavily towards them myself. I just don't know if I want to shell out $500 every 30K miles, with the amount of driving I do.

Where are you guys able to find these tires locally, I don't want to get them off the internet and pay the shipping on tires, plus a Interco dealer is not always easy to find even online.

I've run the MT/R's for about 5,000 miles now. No problems at all. They're fairly quiet on the road and handle well in most situations. Not great in packed snow/ice conditions. But not many mud tires are going to do well in those situations anyways.

I'll probably stick with these again but possibly get some AT's for the snow here in Washington.

FWIW, I've got a friend running BFG MT's and had to have 2 replaced within the first month of owning them. However, he did pay for the extra insurance and had them replaced with no problems (Discount Tire). So that may be something to consider.

Looks like I'm getting them 'cos the price is *right*

Hey man, I run these tires and I love them. My dad also has them on his heep. I run them in a 33x12.50 size on my 93 4Runner. In my opinion I would rather shell out $500 every 30K or so and probably get two sets of these tires for about what one set of MTR's is gonna run ya. As for local dealers, just check around. I got mine from 4Wheel Parts, but most 4Wheel shops should be able to get them. Plus for $130 a tire, you can't find another 33" tire that comes close in price and performance. They work really good on snow and ice to. Any way, that's just my opinion.

Trxus work good in the mud and on the rocks, but mine wore unevenly and they are a PITA to balance. They are some heavy mofo's...

Pro-Comp X-Terrain

I live in AZ and dont get into mud too much, I hate it personally, but I have a set of X-Terrains in 35". They work great in the dry desert here, strong tire and when aired down they give an awesome footprint.

I think the Firestones are worth a shot, especially since they utilize the UNI-T Bridgestone technology.

From Tire Rack's description of the Firestone MT :
UNI-T is a combination of technologies that merge a comprehensive design method with innovative manufacturing features to enhance tire comfort, performance and wear.

Basically, it makes the tire "more" round and last longer among other benefits. It was developed by Bridgestone who now makes Firestone tires.
