Insulating tape on heater core
I just replaced the heater core on my 83 over teh weekend. The old one, when I took it out, had some sort of insulating tape on the bottom and sides. The one I bought didn't have this, and being the impatient person I am when it comes to repairs...I just put the new one in and got my truck back on the road.
I sort of figured if it should have insulating tape on it, it would have come that way. Today, I realize that's kind of a stupid thing to assume. How important is it to have that insulating tape on there?

That's kind of what I was thinking at first, too. I don't know how hot that thing gets, but now it's just sitting against the plastic case...
I guess we'll see how it goes.
Thanks!
