FINALLY took some pics... clean 93 !!!

About six months late, I have some pics of my 93 Sr5 4wd 5 speed IN Pewter Pearl.
This truck has 175k and has NEVER been painted. I am the 3rd owner, first owner had it 2 years, last owner had it over 10 years.

I paid $3k with owner putting in a new clutch as it quit on my test drive I have owned the truck since October 05

Maintenance mods : (I do ALL my own wrenching )

* Timing belt, idlers, water pump, plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor arm, K&N, fuel filter, right and left front driveshafts (CV boot fix) ALL fluids and countless hoses.

Performance mods :

* Dynomax cat back ( I think I lost hp )
* Sylvannia Silverstar headlamp bulbs

Functional mods :

* OME HD springs and shocks, low profile bumpstops
* Bushwacker flares (to cover new wheel tire combo)
* 15 x 8 AR 23's with 31x 10.5 Dueller AT (tires came with truck)
* Aisin hubs ($40 on eBAy and rebuilt by me)
* Factory mudflaps retrofitted to bushwackers

Body/repair :

* Replace Ds and center rear bumper with parts from fine folks here
that look brand new and saved me $400 plus

Others :

* Factory rear deflector to keep rear window clean ( it did not have one !!)
* Yakima roof rails secured with 'tee nuts' (again, no roof rails)
* Remote start alarm - I know, overkill but it was cheap and I wanted
remote locking and a starter kill - mind you, try wiring a 5 speed for
a remote start...I have 3 separate safety interlocks all with relays !!

Bling mods :

* Clear corners and turn signals (quality from Jason B.)
* TRD decal on door (I had it from my SC'd 99 )
* TRD License tag frames (ditto)

Pics :

Poser shot

Very clean

Rear showing Buswackers

AR23's, Aisin hubs, factory flaps + TRD bling

Rear deflector (drill big holes in perfect paint - yikes !)

Yakima rails and more TRD bling (more big holes in roof to fit)

175k interior

I am sure there is a ton of stuff I have forgotten but nevermind, you get the picture....

Sorry if this is in the wrong location... mods please decide and move if you think it needs to be.

Thanks

David

Its my daily driver and replaced my 03 V8 Sport.... I have to do a little tarting up here and there.

Next mod is sliders but I still wrestling with bolt/clamp on vs welded.

However, I did weaken and buy another 4 wheel drive project vehicle... here is a clue

Man, that sucker is super clean, inside and out. At first, I was like he keeps swapping different gens w/ some nice ones prior but with the S4 and this clean 2nd gen, I think you've definitely upgraded.

It'll look that much better w/ the sliders...

Agreed. There is method in my madness. That and the fact that I own the 93 and the S4 will be paid in 18 months.

The S4 in its current tune has over 300 hp.... and drives like a limo... a 4WD limo. Snow tires on the stock 17's and it is killer ski car.

As for sliders ? Stubbs have some really nice new sliders for the Runner that have the right kick out to protect the flares.

Thumbs up

Looks really nice!

Question: Does that rear deflector actually help? How much is it from the dealer?

dave,

very nice and yeah, very late!

hey, re drilling holes for the rear wind deflector, can you give me some more pointers? i.e. where to drill (is there a pre-marked spot?) and is there any special hardware you needed to secure it from inside?

Rear deflector is factory item that I got from Concorde Toyota for around $45 shipped. It realy does keep rear window cleaner if used in conjuction with Rain X on the glass.

It secures with three screws on each side that thread into 'crush nuts' . e.g. Youmark holes with template and drill pilot holes. You then drill a hole around 7/16" diamater and squish some sealant in. Then drive the crush nut in and by using the supplied tool, literally crush it in the hole to secure it. (this uses two wrenches and is not as dramatic as it sounds.)

Then, add more sealant in hole when you screw the bolts in that secure the two brackets that hold the deflector.

Whole thing takes an hour or so with multiple measure, check and re-measure.

The rails for the roofrack secure with the same system.. took over 2hrs as ther are a lot of crush nuts per rail (6 or 7).

Just make sure you use EXACTLY the right size drill (not supplied) and don't rush...

First off, the runner looks awesome and super clean!! definitely a GREAT find.
Now to business, like Bob asked, tell us more about installing the wind deflector.
Also, when you said you rebuilt the Aisins, I'm assuming you repainted. If so, what did you use? I did mine a few years ago and they're looking pretty rough now.
