Well adding that it only happens when you turn a corner to your original post is something more at least but really, it could be anything from the rear axle to a basketball rolling around in the bed. And I'm not being facetious, I'm serious. You could try to make an audio of it or get a buddy to help pin point the exact location of the sound; if it IS coming from the rear & you suspect the rear end, take off the wheels & check the brake shoes & axle play etc. etc.

It is only left or right turns, or both?
Does it happen when you are entering the turn, or exiting?
Does it matter if you are braking, coasting, or accelerating?
Do you feel any movement or vibration when it happens?
What year, and type of vehicle are we talking about?
Is it a standard, or automatic?
Have you had any work done on the rear end recently?
Answers to these questions might allow someone to make a semi-educated guess at what to look for.

sorry um lets see.
1984 pick up 4x4 22r manual trans
the bed is completely empty so its nothing moveing around, i guess it could be my spare tire moveing, ill have to check that. it happens turning both ways, ill have to go and test and see if it only happens on accelarations or brake. sometimes I can feel a light thump but mostly its just a noise, its pretty quiet you wouldnt hear it with the radio on or the windows down.
hope this helps a little.

It helps some, it could really be anything....even loose bolts holding the bed on. The spare tire is a good direct & easy thing to check; that's the sort of thought process you need right there. Follow the line of least resistance, easy to check first & then dig deeper; it'd really help to hear the sound you're hearing to be honest. Shake the bumper, shake the truck from side to side as hard as you can, jack the rear up & push/pull on the wheels (be sure it's secure first of course). Sounds are hard to describe & diagnose in text.

Try determining whether the noise is suspension, drivetrain or body. Go hit some bumps to see if that's the cause. Or have a friend sit in the back and see if they can pinpoint it.
