Clogged EGR Clear out or remove?

So I've been in the process of changing the cylinder head gasket and timing chain on my 1985 Pickup, and I'm not sure what to do about the clogged EGR. The head shop told me that it would have to be drilled out, but that's not really something that I feel comfortable to do myself. I am gonna call them and see if they would be able to do it, but I'm just wondering if it is really necessary. I know there are a lot of threads with people arguing over if its good to remove it or not, but I never really got any good information from them. Does anyone know if head shops would be able to drill it out? And what would you guys do?

I use a drill bit and twist it with my fingers and a piece of wire to get into the nooks and crannies where a bit wont fit. You dont need to take it to a shop, that can be done your self. For the Plenum, I take the Throttle Body Assembly off and use several different tools to get the chunks out and then take it to the carwash.

The EGR itself, to get the metal tube off that is held on with a screw, I use a pair of vise grips and twist it off. If you use a screw driver, you will strip the head. I will see later where a picture is of how I do it and post it.

Okay, thanks a lot. I didn't think about not using a drill. But yeah, I think those pictures would help a lot.
