22re valve tap??
ok, so my 85 22re has about 230k on it, the timing chain was changed around 10yrs and 60k miles ago (i know its time for a new one lol)
ever since i got my truck its hsd a faint tap to it. a freind of mine also an engine technician for njt says its most likely a valve tap. what do you guys think is causing it? my thoughts were valves out of adjustment, stretched timing chain, and even the timing itself. i dont really know where to start so ill just start somewhere. its not really a priority, its not too bad, so ill just gather info now and get ready to fix the prob later

okay thank you, i was considering changing the timing chain/guides , do you think the tap could be from the chain skipping a tooth a while back, or is skipping a tooth more catastrophic. Also when im checking the chain if its rather loose, the 'tap' could possibly be the chain itself tapping right? ill check out my chain first, if nothing...ill pull my rocket cover.
