Undercoating Bumpers and running boards

Hey guys....I was wondering if anyone has ever used rubber undercoating on their bumpers. I bought a 98 4 runner and the rear bumper is rusted through in a few spots on the back left side. I was wondering if I used an angle grinder to grind off the chrome and filled it with bondo and sanded it if undercoating would stick to the whole bumper. The running boards are also full of surface rust and i want to try the same thing....Do you think this would work?

just put this on my front bumper, its thick and takes a loooong time to dry. comes out brown, dries darker, about the color of the cap. You can paint over it and the texture will still poke through. it was simple and easy to work with and didn't require much prep work on the bumper. it was $3something at HomeDepot

**make sure you have EVERYTHING covered that you dont want painted.. this gets everywhere
