turbo 4runner and i need...
my exhaust done. i want to know what are my options to have a good sound and at least 1 hp extra of power. at the moment i have no money for headers and bigger turbo, or new exhaust manifold. i've been searching on this site but i have no concrete opinions. i need one on like this weekend. right now it has a flowmaster 40 series, i hear the fan and engine rather then the muffler.
any help is very helpful.
thanks in advance. btw its an 86 22rte sr5 4runner.

Garrett GT40 turbo, nothing less. Seriously though why get it now, if you could wait and get a higher quality exhaust? Otherwise I doubt it will be worthy and a muffler isn't going to get you any horsepower. Why do you need it this weekend?

well i need a cat and the muffler is stock, so it's beggining to rust. hp is not a priority, i just need a replacement so i might as well get something worth a while. i'm not to sure in beefing up this truck, at least not just yet

<--- GT40 huh? I got one of those
I don't know of any companies that make kits for an rte. Your best bet is to go to an exhaust shop, and get them to fab you up a quick 2.5" system from the turbo elbow down. It'll net you a few hp. I suggest magnaflow glasspack straight through mufflers for sound.

go to summit racing , and get a 2 1/2 inch cat, magnaflow or cheaper alternitive, and a good 2 1/2 magnaflo, or dynomax ultraflow welded muffler, DO NOT GET flowmaster, turbos hate flows, cause they don't flow, and get a local shop to install a 21/2 exhust from the convertor to the tailpipe , you need to be able to get as much exhaust out from the turbo as you can, that way more exhaust can enter and spin the turbine even faster for quicker boost, and the small down pipe and exhaust caused the stock turbo to run hotter and that is one thing that cracked the web between the bybass flap and turbine outlet.

I know tons of people that run flowmasters on their turbo trucks with no problems. I just went from a magnaflow to a flowmaster and could tell no difference other than it sounded better
