New truck need help!

Hey everyone I just bought a 1992 toyota 4x4 pickup off my uncle he owned it since new, it has 154,000 orignial km, its automatic, with a v6 no rust, body is mint, it was a pavement princess. I want to rig this thing, not super hard but im looking to lift it a bit, i heard about cranking up the torsion arms or something? This truck seems higher than other toyotas ive seen around town? I dont think its lifted though. How much would like a 6inch lift set me back? Any info on my truck that would be help full to know would be highly appriciated thanks a lot everyone! Had the truck for 3 days went and did a bit of 4x4ing yesterday and this thing loves to climb haha

I have a 1990. Its at the shop right now. I'm having a profesional do mine. The 4" suspention lift I am getting is $610.00 for the lift. $700.00 for the install. $160.00 for a 3" Body lift and $375.00 Labor. 7" total. $1,845.00

Putting 35" tires on mine. Im not sure but tweeking the tortion bars defeats the purpose of IFS. would be real bumpy. but I could be wrong.

I would save up something that gives you better performance and is just as expensive as a 6 inch lift would give you.
6 inch lift + bigger set of tires + regear + bigger shocks = a lot of money
If your looking for a little bit of lift, maybe you should just go with ball joint spacers and some sort of lift in the back. Search around the site for some ideas and make sure you know what you want. Cause you might find something even better with the money you intend to spend for a lift. Just my two cents.

Well i want it for performance and looks right. Like I plan on building some bumpers at work and what not. Does anyone have photos of their toyotas with 4 inch lifts and say 6 inch lifts? and any other sizes

Question: Why a 6 inch lift? For "offroad capability" or to look good?

If you want a mall crawler: 6 inch lift, big tires.

If you want a wheeler: Start off with armor and a locker or two.

Or the best of both: 2-4 inch lift, lockers, armor, 5.29s, and 35s

If it were me. Stuff some 33s under it, trim the pinch weld if they rub. Grab a rear locker. Get front and rear bumpers, sliders, and a t-case crossmember. And wheel the piss out of it.

well im 19 and i make decent money but i cant make this thing a crazy rig over night right, so i figured like a lift would be a good place to start, i plan on doing small this long weekend like the diff breathers and stuff, how much would a 4 inch lift set me back? Im fairly mechaincally inclined how hard would it be to install?

I'm 18 and I know where you're coming from. I think you should read this thread. I wish I did when I first got my truck.

I know how that is, im 17 and in the same boat.

Yeah do the diff breathers, and check, or even change all fluids. Just basic maintainence.

The lift is about 1000 bucks new. You can find them for more, or less. Or picl one up used for about 3-400.

I have never installed one, but here are some instructions i found that give you the basic idea of how to do it. http://www.explorerprocomp.com/PDFs/is/57089.pdf

might be a super dumb question, but would these shocks work in my truck and lift it a bit?

The shocks aren't going to lift your ride, the ad says they're for a 3"-4" lifted toyota, so it would just be a waste of money to buy them if you already have good shocks.

It's cool dude, the more you get into your truck the more you will learn about it. Just take a look at where your shocks are mounted when you get a chance and you will see why bigger shocks won't lift your ride.
