Motor swap for 99 Tacoma

As stated I want to put a new motor in my 99 trd 2wd Tacoma. Any suggestions? I, trying to get the most for my money, I've heard you can put a turbo Lexus motor that fits the factory transmission but need to upgrade the rear end. All suggestions welcome

What do you want out of your new engine? Power? Fuel efficiency? Reliability? Need more info. Sorry to state the obvious, but if your engine died and you just want the truck to run again, the easiest solution (and cheapest, and least labor-intensive) would be to simply replace it with the same.

Well it hasn't died yet, but it's on it's way. As far as what I want, I'm looking for power, my stock motor is only giving me 12-14 mpg so I'm not worried about fuel efficiency. Yes the obvious and simple choice is to put a stock motor back in but where's the fun in that? Basically I want something with power, torque, and that fits without a rediculous amount of fabrication.
