I thought it was some kind of filter till I cleaned the gunk off
The more purple power I use, the more things I discover, can somebody identify this. Mounted on the speedo cable, sort of seems to be some kind of cable protector (HD foam) not sure if something is inside, Haynes doesn't mention it, no clips or mounts nearby on the 91 4X4

Probably is some sort of abrasion protector or anti-rattle isolator.
Can it be slid to another position on the cable? Maybe it moved, or someone moved it.
Don't think there should be anything inside it.
