How Can I Tell if my Engine is Original?
Is there a way to tell if the 3.0 in my 1994 4Runner is original? My friend seems to think it's not, I tend to think otherwise. Is there a way to know for sure, like a serial # or VIN on there somewhere? I tried searching, but couldn't find a definitive answer anywhere. Is runs nice and strong. I just got the timing belt & water pump replaced today. Next up is a tune up.
If the engine is not original then at least it was done right. There are no tell-tale signs like sloppy re-wiring or anything scratched or bent from them swapping it out.

Why do you really need to know??
The engine should have a serial # on the 3.0 I am not real sure where it is.
With your vin it should be possible to get the serial # of your engine to match with what is on there.
If you are on good terms with your local Toyota Parts people.
If you find it is not the original engine then what??
