ATT: Canadian Members question about parts

I finally bit the bullet and got a 1996 4runner, manual with e-locker. I'm wanting to do the tundra + blisten 5100's front, toytec diff drop and LC 8 wraps + shocks rear.

Living in canada and having all of those parts shipped from seperate companies would easily rack up the cost of customs and duties. Where do you canadian guys manage to find these parts? Obviously I could go to toyota for the front springs, but other than that it seems like I would have to slowly piece this together.

Also, does anyone actually sell the LC springs new? Everywhere I look it seems like people just end up getting them from a junk yard - but in my area there are 0 land cruisers in junk yards.

thanks.

The cost in Canada is often more than importing from the US. It's also more difficult to get certain top brands. I specifically wanted Nitro gears and a Spartan Locker. I ordered from East Coast Gear Supply in the Eastern US and had two complete 3rds - gears, core, master install kit, rear locker AND shipping to Yellowknife for less than what I found in Canada for lesser quality parts.

I will continue to order from American suppliers.

i use my local speed shop for trail gear parts cause he is a vendor for them and can usually match there price pretty close and its nice to support local business too. all others im on my own pretty much, order, pay the shipping, wait...... sometimes its on time others have sat at customs for a week or two, pay the duty and customs price, and you finally have your parts. there is a definate flaw in this system for sure. Ive found sites like kijiji and craigslist to be the best help if your on a budget. im in the middle of doing a trans swap and front end lift/rebuild and close to a 1/3 of my cost has been on shipping. try to make your orders as large as possible and from as few places as possible. but it is hard when you want trail gear this and marlin crawler that and a piece from sky mfg. and then you realize you still need a wab fab sticker..... but all in all shipping to canada sucks. or get an american friend ship to there house and have TRUSTWORTHY friend ship parts to you thats probably the cheapest route but can be a prob with credit cards that need shipping and billing addresses to match

Small market, huge markup.

I found the lack of brands I want to be the biggest annoyance.
