I just pulled and painted mine on my 95 tacoma. There should be three in front, two long ones in the middle (five total on front plate) and remaining two on rear plate.

Stock skid plate, I presume? If so, after all the bolts are out push up the front edge of the plate under the radiator and then slid it towards the back. There are two L shaped clips that help hang the skid plate up there.
