It would be much easier to SAS it. Stronger too if that ever comes into question.
Sfa is VERY simple.
Basically you just weld up your hangers front and rear, bolt up a driveshaft, bump stops, extend the brake lines, align it with a tape measure (the wonders of sfa) Use stock springs if you'd like they should be easy to find for free or under $50. After that you're pretty well good to go.
You dont really need an sas kit unless you want to lift it, but for a farm truck... i'd say leave her stock.
Edit: Another thing you should know is the axle housing will interfere with your oil pan. There are two ways to fix this, one would be get an oil pan from a 4wd.. the other would be to add a bump stop extension on that side

^ He really couldn't go stock, because hi steer requires a few inches of lift. And since this is an ifs rig, the only way to set up steering for a solid axle is hi steer.

this will be one of the coolest yota's if you do sas haha.
if i were doing this and had tons of money i would put rears up front, buy a front hanger and shakles, get a 85 strait axle (rebuild it), buy a T case/tranny, put a 3L diesel in there with the surf 2.4 head and turbo( strait pipe), get some rear 4x4 leafs for the back. and have one hell of a towing machine haha.
i cant wait to see how this turns out!

Well he could set up the push/pull... But it would be much better to go crossover. Which like you said would need 3" or so
