Napa Gold Oil Filter

I just changed the oil on my 4.7 V8 4runner for the first time. The napa filter that was a direct match to the factory filter is shorter, and has a different looking black gasket than the OEM filter. Is this filter going to be OK? It screwed on and seated just fine. Just making sure the filter will be OK.

If it fit fine you've got no problems. Personally I highly recommend you use the original Toyota oil filters since the price difference for an original vs aftermarket is very insignificant.

Also check out Northridge Toyota as their parts dept offers 25% off all Factory parts! https://www.yotatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72371

Good luck

I just did some querying on Napa's website- looks like the V6, the V8 of the 4th Gen 'runners take the same filter, as does the V6 3rd Gen. Is that possible?

Yes it's possible. Makes manufacturing more efficient with one part.

Wix makes Napa Gold filters. You cannot go wrong with that filter IMO. Wix also makes the air filters. I buy both of these by the half dozens. My engine oil analyses have indicated that Mobile 1 is clean (and lubricating) for at least 10000 miles, with a 5000 mile filter change.
