The search engine here wont work with my phone and its the only internet I have, I did a google search and came up with a couple results but they were from a few years ago and werent similar to my situation. So here goes, im gettin an 88 pickup 22re 300k plus miles on truck, supposedly the top end was rebuilt not long ago, i know the guy im gettin it from and he is reputable and honest. He told me his toyota man who did the other work listened to it and said its a bad wrist pin. And he could fix it for 500 bucks. When you first start it theres a slight knock/rattle not bad only does it for a short time after starting, also does it when youre decelerating(let off the gas) its even more faint then, almost inaudible or non existant. So my questions are, does this sound like a wrist pin problem? Is 500 about right to fix it? What all is involved in fixing it? Other than that everything works except the dome light and cig lighter, the door buzzer doesnt work either so,maybe theyre on the same circuit and it has been disabled. And the front tires are cupping. No rusy, no dents. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Sometimes the timing chain rattle from broken chain guides can sound like a wrist pin issue....

Thanks man, ill check that. He said the timing chain and top end have been rebuilt tho. Not sure.
