Since so many people are interested in this type of cover, and it looks like Wolf/Saddleman doesn't have it anymore I would be willing to redesign it with some improvements and post the info here.
You could probably get a good shop that makes boat covers or convertable tops to make one up for way cheaper than the original.
As another alternative I could make some up and sell them to you guys using my design. I have some experiance in sail making so I don't think this would be too far beyond my skillls.
One of the things I don't like about mine is it doesn't extend far enough to the rear seats. Some changes I would consider making would be better plastic supports for it and better mounting points.

you said it attaches with screws to the sides of the truck. does this mean that you have to drill? is there any way to get one that bolts on with no drilling??

Just got back from the Tall Pines Rally in Bancroft Ontario, looked around a few places and could find neither hide nor hair of the elusive cargo cover... Boo.

Think I may have found the part # but it doesn't return anything in any search engine, will keep plugging away when I have time. I would have my shop make one but they're in WV and I can't leave the truck and still get home...

I've been dragging my heels over the measurements for this , sorry about that so many projects so little time.
I don't have the box anymore and the only # that I remember was INSPECTED BY # 13.
I'll measure it up and post a diagram. I still intend to make up some of these on my improved design in the very near future.

I can't believe I'm still looking for this, but I have found the first evidence of the cover at http://www.truckaddons.com/
it comes up in a search by 86-89 4runner, then under cargo cover. They do not have any more in stock, and they are not working to get anymore, so don't contact them. But they do have the following info... GOT THE PART NUMBER!!!

Just had one on ebay, I didn't feel it was worth more than $35 as a template compared to making a new custom one. I do believe the new owner is someone on this and other boards?

Anyway, I have an 8' x 6' piece of poster paper, am going to have the top off next weekend if the weather is good and will trace the opening. I have mentioned this to the potential manufacturer and they have expressed interest in a trial production run, pending viable market research, starting with one for my truck to estimate production costs.

Funny you posted this today because I was working on a template for the new one today at work.
I am going to get some fabric on Tuesday and make a cover in black. If it works out I will post pics and measurements

It's nothing to get exicted about. It is the wolf cargo cover. I only use it when the top is off. I have 5% tint on all the windows on the top so nobody can see in when it's on. It seems to do it's job, it's by no means waterproof though, it's basically just to keep wind off things and prying eyes. You could easily design a much better one. If you need any info about it, I can give it to you. It mounts using 4 plactic hooks that you need to screw on. I have wooden carpets rear cargo panels so I used wood screws and it holds up, if you have the stock plastic crap you should for sure go into the metal behind it. There is 4 elastic loops on each corner of the cover the attatch to the hooks.

I'd be interested to see pics of the connectors and where they screw in. Decided not to make one until I get my other mods in, will wait for spring at this point, but didn't get the top off this past summer and wanna have something to cover up for next year...

LOL...Mack's got the cover. He's letting the 1st gen's know what's out there since they don't have the window shade roll ups we do...hey Mack, your Runner looks nuts with the back off. :eek: pretty amazing that cover stays put at highway speed. 
butnutI friggin love it with the back off, that is awesome!! First gen 4Runners are the bomb. I know it's basically a HiLux with a topper but damn they are cool.
