Tapped in rear main seal too far.....
While installing the new rear main seal in my 92 4runner v6 I accidently tapped it in too far(about 1/16" too far). Do I need to pull it out and buy a new one and try again?

Yes, and no.
No depends on whether or not the oil pan is already off, or needs to come off(for whatever other reason). Because there's a way to fix what you've done without have to remove the oil seal and buy a new one. But you'd have to lower the oil pan(and baffle plate) so you could remove the oil seal retainer. Once the oil seal retainer was off, then you could push the seal out until it was flush with the outer edge of the retainer. Then install the retainer and oil seal as an assembly.
If removing the oil seal retainer isn't feasible, then yes. You should probably just bite the bullet, go get a new seal, and try again.
