If you have it apart I would definately install the engcbldr timing set w/ metal guides so that will be the last time you have to do it. I would buy the one with the new oil pump just for the peace of mind(it's only about $20 more). The tensioner runs off oil pressure and if the oil pump is questionable, then change it anyway! Just my .02!

i cant really tell by the pics but did you happen to reinstall the cam gear backwards or maybe the chain guides on wrong left to right. icant remember if thats possible, its been awhile since ive been into one. maybe your tensioner aint doing its job.

I didn't take the guides off, but its possible that I had the cam gear on backwards. I'll double check that.

Double checked the cam sprocket, its on correctly, with the TDC mark on the front. And even with it flipped around, the chain was close to the guides.

After reading TRX's post and receiving the same info from a email from Engnbldr, I took a glance at my tensioner and theres a little indentation from what could be a bolt hitting it. That could be the squeeling noise, won't know till later, just still trying to look at other possibilities while I can.

Can someone tell me how close the chain is suppose to be to the guides or since they're plastic, they might just be that close, which eventually leads to the guides breaking over time? I only ask because I didn't mess with the guides during the tear down, didn't take them off, bolts are tight, guides aren't moving any further in, unless I push on them and no matter which way the cam sprocket's put on, the distance is the same.

I know you sound like your on a budget, but if I were you I'd replace all that with a new kit from EB. It seems questionable right now with the way it is, I'd just replace it all with new stuff for the peace of mind.

if i remember right the chain usually does sit towards the motor a little bit. i would probably check on the tensioner. it just dont sound right to me. or if it fits the budget replace it like chuki said, it is a known weak area of that motor.

Budget, lol. I'm past my budget and scrounging up change for this dang thing. This being my only mode of transportation and not running makes having a job....well...i'm scrounging for change, lol.

I'm leaning towards ordering the EB kit, but until I have the money to do so, I'm trying to either fix this or figure out what about it is wrong.

I emailed Ted at EB and he gave me some info that I'm looking at, going to go check and see if the space between the chain and the block is the same all the way up and down.

That EB is one Badass!!!!!!! Something so simple, yet overlooked by all the folks here at yotatech. I would have never thought to check that!
