Hot or cold, my clutch squeaks only when engaging. Do you think its the release, pilot, or throw-out bearing? If so, what do I need to do to fix it?

I just can't imagine the clutch "squeaking"... maybe squealing?

If its at the pedal or does it when your engine is off or on its the master clutch cylinder.

get an OEM one, replace the slave at the same time as well. Don't replace with aftermarket clutch hydraulic parts. They are crap. I learned from experience.

My pedal squeaks also every time I press the pedal to engage the clutch. I have tried lubing the assembly, but I still get noise, just figured it was something I would have to deal with.

Exact same here...greasing the area between the clurchfork and pushrod on the slave only remedies the problem for a little while...

When the piston stops gliding smoothly on either component it creates a squeak and pedal hesitation. When one develops this issue the other soon follows. The same forces on the master are applied to the slave in the same rythm.

replace both or you will fight a never ending battle!

If the problem was at the Master, how would greasing the clutch fork/pushrod fix the squeak for the time being?

I've also noticed that if I don't drive the truck for a few days, the squeak disappears for a while.

I don't think I've ever had a more annoying problem with my rig

My rig squeaks from the pedal when disengaging the clutch, and in the last few weeks has begun squealing when engaging under load (accidentially in 2nd (yikes), up hills, etc). anyone know what that is?

I have the same problem. It makes me want to bash my head sometimes....i have really no idea what is causing the problem, although i read on here before the clutch was squeaking about a bushing that can be replaced in the clutch pedal assembly. I cant find the post, but i wish it would stop! no more squeaking. Please?

any updates on this? mine has been squeaking for months and just tonight started squeaking on BOTH clutch motions. its definitely coming from outside the truck

haha i got your awser ,i had same issue ,whats squeeking is probably your release cylinder that close to your tranny on the passenger side ,it cost 30 bux from napa, if the noise is not comming from under then i really dont know.

and to remove it is pretty easy ,its only down side is you have to rebleed your system!!

my squeeking was really BAD ,trust me ,comming from underneith and when i changed the release cylinder ,there was no squeeking at all .aleluya!

My pedal squeaks every time too. I think it's just a little bushing, not anything worth worrying about although it is annoying.

Mine squeaks when engaging it, engine on or off. Has been since my father got the truck 120K ago... I just turn the music up louder

It sounds like it is coming from a break line right behind the driver wheel. I dont know how the clutch and break work together, but my my mechanic who knows just about everything about Yota PU says that is if it squeaks even when it is off, it is probably just a linkage problem and nothing to worry about.

Dont worry about it if its not slipping. The price to fix it wouldnt be worth the results.

since i dont have the money anyway, im going to lube around where whatever its called goes through the firewall and spray some lubricant around the clutch pedal spring. anything past lubrication im not going to bother with until something starts ACTING funny, not just squeaking. its just a little embarrassing to me

Check your clutch pedal bracket . When mine cracked it developed a squeak. I thru bolted it to the firewall.

2WDoffroadx: In answer to your original questions:

Have a friend engage the clutch, both engine on and engine off, repeatedly while get underneath (Emergency Brake ON, PLEASE!) and listen for the location. It's the only way to pinpoint it. When you find out exactly where the noise is, let us know.

I think I have a leaking rear crank seal causing mine...

No matter how much I lube the pivot ball and fork it comes right back. Clutch must be contaminated with oil.
