Va Law says sealed exhaust system exiting in near to stock loaction, But in trucks it just needs to go past the passenger compartment, so if the muffler itself or pipe before it was leaking, it wouldnt pass, But cut off, its legit

Well I contacted the seller again, and we are working out the details. So hopefully soon, I will be driving this home and then the fun begins. I am very detail oriented, so it will get a full cleaning/detailing, fluid changes, detail the motor and the motor compartment, grease all the fittings, etc.

Looks like a good deal. I bought my '88 2 years ago for $2600 with a rusty bed. That one looks nice. As far as the low grip, I would say it's because of no weight in the rear. I have 280 pounds of sand bags in the rear of mine even with a bed because I got tired of big wind gusts making my rear end kick out on snowy roads when not in 4WD. As said above, get at least some AT tires. It looks like he's got car tires on there lol.

I think the idle speed thing changing could just be a idle speed setting is too high, if it is surging. It could also be old vacuum hoses or routing pipes full of mook. But at that age expect to have to replace some sensors that can typically cost $100 each. Many have to get new throttle position sensors, temp sensors, EGR valves, and some other cheap things like the PCV valves. Oh yeah, Oxygen sensors. (sparkplugs.com sells factory. If you need them or other basic ignition parts. Always use factory parts for the sensors or ignition, don't use bosch replacements, waste of money on a yota.)
If the brakes are not working, masters cylinders are cheap enough, if you don't buy a dealer version, which should be fine, if the vacuum booster is toast, $400 or so for a new one.
I just thought you should know what typically goes wrong with these trucks. Motors run great and last forever, especially with all the sensors in good order.

Well we agreed on a price. The owner went ahead and bought a new battery for me and installed that. So we came to $2250. What do you guys think, is it still worth it?

Its a great deal especially since he did a frame up restoration on the body. Just be prepared to have some mechanical issues. I have seen them with blown engines go for over $1000. extra cabs with blown engines for more than what you are gonna pay.
