Question Seat belt help

My driver side belt is all frayed and the spring sucks, so I bought a new seat belt set from the wreckers out of a 90something runner.

I thought it would be a lot more simple to change it out and I have some questions.
There is that cover that pops off where the belt enters the side panel in the first pic, how does that get onto the new seatbelt, the slit is not wide enough for all the parts to go thru?

And I thought I bought the correct side because of the way the male ends sits the same way, but the mechanisim looks like it will mount the opposite way compared to the original in the second pic?

Is that the mechanisim that I need, or did I get the wrong side? Because it looks like I have to remove the whole side panel to get at it and it would suck if I couldent fix it from there..

looks like you got the right one but yeah you do have to remove the whole side panel to get at it. The only issue I can think that you might have is seat belt length... the belts may be shorter if they came out of a 4dr runner I know the seat tracks are. Don't forget to torque the seatbelt mount bolts to spec. they are a life safety device and you would'nt want them to fail because they were under/over torqued. The dealer should be able to tell you what the torque spec is or else post a ? someone here will know...
Hope this helped aviator

Good point about the torque...I have the specs, just not the wrench, been meaning to pick one up anyway.

Princess Auto has one on sale this month for about $25.00 no idea about quality though. and Canadian Tire has there Maxum series on sale this week also... thinking of getting one myself... just bought a 24" x 1/2" breaker bar and 21mm impact socket to use as a lug wrench that little one yota included in the tire change kit just won't cut the mustard... let me say she works really well no effort needed at all now heh heh heh...
