Re-Engineered 3.0 intake (pics)
Today I re-engineered the intake system for my 89 4runner 3.0.
basically what i did is i made some mods so that i could flip the afm upside down.
before..
After..
i i also took out the little resonator box
pic of where the resonator box used to be....
in order to keep the air filter clamped i hack sawed the ring with the clamps off of the stock mount.
it sounds great...very loud especially at idle
very throaty
tell me what you guys think, and possibly some other mods?

Only candians could take a bad thing and make it worse.....
Agree with elton. Different, very different.
What was the point tho? What did you gain/accomplish by doing this?
And you should do something about that hokey tape job. That wont hold for very long, methinks.

yeah i mean duct tape would old much better than "hockey" tape...i too want to do what you accomplished besides getting better sound by taking out the resinator....I mean if all you wanted to do was take the resinator off you coud have put a little filter on the vacuum line off the engine and plug up the hole from the hose on the AFM. its just different thats the only word for it really. Is there any difference in the throttle response with the filter all "flipped naked" haha

the afm flips very easily just loosen off the clamp where the intake tube attaches to and it slides right out then just flip it over.
right now it's attached by one bolt that just so happens to luckily line up with one of the stock holes in the airbox..its sturdy and wont be going anywhere

Don't you just love it when you take the time to share an idea and these people around here act like you just hit on their Mom's?
Seriously people, if you don't like an idea there is really no need to flame the guy and start making racist and nationalist remarks...
Grow up a little.
