You want to see off topic? Go to the last "No oil cap" thread!
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-wierd-141477/
But, I'm sure just_a_22re doesn't know anything about that thread!

Sounds like someone is dicking with you ?
for 10 bucks buy yourself some purple power... stuff will strip the damn paint of your truck will break down the oil and then hose if off with a hose or for another four bucks take it to the car wash with the pressure hose, sounds like the jerk that dragged a key down the side of my truck and left a note that said "your truck was too shiny and spelled shiny wrong at that and needed a scratch" !
but as far as damage goes I don't think you will have a problem I had this happen to a 94 Escort and the car still ran but them the transmission died just after that...POS car
Good luck and for the record I would of balled my eyes out too !!

dude, that sucks! but at least now you get to clean that dirty engine bay
so you assume the oil cap was there before you went to your buddy's, but not when returning? hmmm...i'd say if you guys are always hangin' out over at your friend's, then maybe someone's got it out for you guys.
in college we had similar issues where we were ALWAYS over at my buddy's place and i guess someone didn't like it much because a few of our cars got messed with. a buddy's BMW got the hood and windshield smashed in. someone loosened the lugs on my front driver's tire of my old K5 Blazer with 4" lift/35s - friggin tire came off while i was driving it! wish i could have caught that guy and smashed his toes one at a time with a BFH!
my gf once took her corolla to a stealership to have the oil changed before a roadtrip and those idiots didn't put the cap back on! luckily the cap was there and only about a quart escaped into the engine bay. there was no smoke and i didn't even notice while driving, but just happened to check the oil at a gas station 300 miles later. never going back to those guys for anything.
i think i recall hearing of a video or something where they show a 22re running with no oil in it....

It probably just came off, I doubt anyone popped your hood just to take your oil cap. I've had oil caps vibrate loose/pop off before, and the mess sucks. Enigine degreaser is about $3 at the parts store.
At least you know everything is lubricated now....
Here's the replacement part you need: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main...products_id=19

Your truck will be fine, clean her up good and be careful around the distributor. Think of the bright side, the engine bay will be pretty clean when your done. Or you could just leave the oil film there to help protect from the awesome Wisconsin road salt.
