the car isnt throwing a code anymore. but I took it for a drive down a nice long highway and it wouldnt go into overdrive for like 2 miles. after I got it going threw all the gears I drove it normal. but it seems like the 4runner isnt shifting right. Ex. If I slam my foot down on the gas it doesnt accel fast it goes into higher gears and slowly accels. and the car can barly make it over 75 with my foot down on the peddal all the way.
Is there a Vac. line to the trans. on this model? I went poking around but I really couldnt see anything.

Well, it won't go into overdrive until your coolant is up to normal temps (that's by design). And as far as the acceleration, it sounds like the classic "I drive a heavy truck with a 3.0L engine" problem. That's why it's nicknamed the 3.slow... or is it a lot worse now than it has been for you in the past?

its way worse, lets say if I was driving 50mph the car would jump in between overdrive and 3rd trying to keep up with 50. it seems like its shifting to soon to. But now im starting to think it has something to do with the timing because the car is idling at 500rmps and if it sits it dies.
I'm really thinking about gutting the whole car taking a saw to the back of it to make it look some what like the chevy avalache. anyone hear if you can put a chevy block in 90s modle? Im sick of trying to keep this thing stock might as well make it what I want if im going to be fixing it all the time. I'll do a picture mod and show my idea what this can look like
