Any pro. welder in here? well I was wondering that, can I use the battery with a cloth hanger to weld thing? my buddy told me that he use a charger to weld stuff but didn't give me any specification on how to do it so will it effect the battery if I was able to use it? I just don't want anything to explode while diong it. if you pro welder think its fine then reply, thanks in advance.

Im Amiture wielder and Its possible but I wouldnt do it unless I was out in the boonies about to die from starvation.

Yes you could...but that doesn't mean you should. I wouldn't call myself a pro-welder, yet. But I can lay one hell of bead with a TIG welder on tubing. You can use batteries to weld with good results from what I have heard. But like you said they may blow. I think that all depends on the battery. One issue is that you want to use clothes hangers, that won't work. When welding you need some type of inert gas or a flux to prevent debris from entering the weld. If you are going to try this, buy some welding rod from home depot or something and shield yourself and everything else from the battery.

it can be done, with a couple batteries connected in series. make sure you disconnect the batteries from the vehicles. (to protect their electrical circuits). I wouldn't try it unless it was an emergency and I wouldn't expect it to be a pretty weld. but, it could get you home (maybe). It will drain the batteries rather fast, so keep in mind when you finish the weld you will need some power to start the vehicles. (unliss they are stick and could be bumped started). Please don't try this with sunglasses if it dosen't blind you while you are doing it you will think someone stuck red hot irons in your eyes a couple hours later.

I am not a pro welder but have a few certifications and have been welding suff on and off for about 20 years.

You can melt metal that way, in small quantities, but actually "welding" something that is reliable? Not without being a very skilled, expert welder yourself. Especially a bad idea (even if you have a real welder)is to go and buy some welding rod, build a trailer (or something going onto a highway) and find out you used the wrong kind of rod the hard way.
Seriously if you wanna weld take a community college class, there is a lot of safety info that you are not gonna get from your buddy that weld using batteries and coat hangers.

Thanks all! I just needed to weld some studs and only need a bit of welding on it but just for safety concern I'll just take it to a local shop and let them weld it there.. good advise on link for welding infor.
