My 32x11.50's rub horribly with a 4" BS. Even with the BJ spacers up front they rub even turning into my driveway....and I have trimmed and hammered the piss out of the lower fender wells. I guess I should have stuck with factory rims and some 10.50's....

That's because you have 1/2"ish less backspacing than stock coupled with a 1" wider rim coupled with a 1" wider tire. Not considering scrub radius, that's 2" out farther than stock right there. A 33x10.50 on a stock backspaced (& width) rim is ideal for no lifting/trimming on these 2nd gens.

I thought I had .75" MORE BS than stock? Wouldn't less BS than stock put me farther away from rubbing? That would suck the tires in closer, bringing them away from the fender wells during turning.

I've got to break out the hammer and grinder and get to work on that because it's killing me, even on the streets.

Can you get some direct front and rear pics? I want to see how skinny they look. I have the same truck and want the same tire but I cant decide between the 10.5 or the 12.5.

Stock backspacing on my 15x7 SR5 alloys is about 4 1/2", so you have less backspacing pushing the tires out 1/2" farther. The fact that the rims are 1" wider pushes it out another 1". Now you've got an 11.50 wide tire too, which pushes it out another 1/2". All of these combined is why you're rubbing so bad.

While I don't have any first hand experience with a 33x10.50, everything I've read to date says that on a stock backspaced rim they will not rub on a 2nd gen. That's why I feel it's the ideal setup if you don't want to lift or trim.

I understand that my setup isn't going to clear fenders and such. I just didn't think it would be this bad.
I think I had it backwards or something anyways. I've also heard the same thing about 33x10.50 on stock rims. I did some serious cutting/trimming today and unless I really stuff the tire at an angle it doesn't rub.

When i jacked it up to check for rubbing I did one wheel at a time until everything was completely compressed and no rubbing. I dont have any pics of this, but you will just have to take my word for it? Ask tc, he can tell you . And toylocost, i dont have any direct front or rear pics and I am out of town right now, so maybe someone else can chime in with one or I can try to get a couple when I get home.

I'm not saying you're wrong or that it's going to rub or even come close to it, but jacking one tire up on my 4runner won't cause any rubbing. I can't fully compress the suspension with just one tire jacked. If I jack one front and one rear on the opposite side I can get it to fully compress and that's when I get serious rub. That might not be the case for you though.

I used to have this 87 Runner 22RE/auto/571/rear DSL with 33x10.50
and factory aluminum wheels


I ditched the tailgate and threw the fiberglass top into the dumpster
(after I sliced it into 6 pieces with my sawzall). 3 or 4 inches lift in rear
and 1.5" in front via cranking. Never rubbed even when crossed up
offroad. Really had to bug a specific Jeep guy on the trail when I made it up
the steep sandy hill with lots of crossed up ruts and he couldn't.
I had the REAR locker...he happened to have a FRONT locker only....
but I was savvy enough to air down to 9~11 psi.

Nice, I have a set of 33x10.5x15 BFG MT KM2s in the mail right now, can't wait to get them. I took all the trim off from around the wheel wells today, looks a lot better. I'd like to get some 1.5 BJ spacers and LC coils in to raise it a hair and get rid of the moderate ass sag, but I don't have the equipment for that, and likely won't for a while.

LC coils give more than a "hair" lift in the rear. Try 4" or so depending on how much sag you already have.
