mine is held on on the bottom front crossmember by the same bolts that hold in the stock ones. they aren't rusty but i banged it a few good times and Windrock and its fine. but once i start adding the bottom skid to mine, i will be getting stronger bolts for it. but i wouldn't say its the bolts tha are whole problem. its mainly the 1/100000000 thin metal that is there. stock bolts and 3/16 steel has been fine for me. but i'm going to get stronger bolts soon just in case. on and to help strengthen the stock skid some, tent weld some angle iron onto the back of it. just don't burn a hole through it haha

When i got my runner the previous owner screwed a peice of diamond plate that was relly corroded on. looked like crap! So WHen i weld in my replacement lower rad support i'm going to up size the bolts and drill and tap or weld in nuts to the lower and make a new plate out of 1/8" plate. Might add some louvers too.

I think my runner may be missing it, but is there any other skid plates or under armor from factory?

Any body know of any aftermarket under armor companys for the 2nd gen runners? I just want to copy what they got.

the only other factory "skid plate" is the one for the transfer case, unless you want to count that thing under the gas tank

my 4Runner didn't come with one but my buddies basic model 4x4 truck did... /shrug. I dont think the models matter.. plus giving the fact your truck is more than a decade old, anything could happen to it. i think it looks just fine without one, but sure, i'd take one and bolt it up on my truck

I'm hoping yur talking about the skid plate and not the oil drain plug.

Because after one of the more recent posts on this board, I am beginning to wonder. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...r-seen-193983/

If I had ADD, I know I would want a skid plate too. I'd have a hard time paying attention to what's in front of me.

Hey guys. new guy here with a 91 4runner, 22re. I'm looking for a stock "gravel guard", front skid plate thing. I bought my 4runner used and the stock one was missing. Anyone have one? Or any good ideas on where to find one? I'm in the Northeast and am having no luck. Just trying to keep snow off the front dif. Thanks!

Sorry to get off topic but,

Is it a good idea to reinforce the stock skid plate or better to just make a new one?
I was thinking of welding a cut piece of diamond plate onto mine so I don't have to make the mounts for it, so it'd look nicer and be a bit beefier.
