Was the tranny working fine before the clutch replacement? If so, I seriously doubt that's the problem.

You can check the clutch pedal height and push rod freeplay with this:

IF all that checks out fine and you're sure the air is all out, something went wrong in the installation. There's not that much to a clutch assembly to go wrong.

Did you replace the shifter seat bushing and end cap?

Sounds like tyranny to me as well
if not did you replace either the slave or the master with out replacing the other.
happened to me once. they need to be replaced together or else the displacement is not equil and will not work.

Is the problem the same as b4 when you decided to replace the clutch???

i didnt replace the slave or master cyl. i just bled the hydraulic line. now it goes into gear and when i go down the road it has a hard time shifting. it will shift but i have to really jam on it to get it into gear. my mechanic is a few miles down the road so it will make it there this weekend. but ya the tranny worked fine before the clutch went in and the clutch went in right.

I didn't have to bleed anything when I changed my clutch....

Shifter seat bushing? Did you replace it? Did you get the shifter back in correctly?

You know I had a similar problem some years ago in a 96 GMC Jimmy with manuel trans. When I would start it and that it would move with the clutch engaged and was very hard to shift it. Once the trans got nice and warm it started to shift fine down the road. The trans fluid was low in it so filled it up and that fixed my problem. I don't know if it will help you any, but it might.

That doesn't make any sense from a physics standpoint. What would transmission fluid have to do with the clutch?

To be honest I know it doesn't make sense but for some reason it worked.
I was getting out of my college class went out to my Jimmy the clutch was working right but got home and still doing it filled the trans and it worked fine after that. Maybe there were some gremlins messin with me that day

ya the shifter is in correctly. im gonna replace the slave cyl today. what happens when you replace the slave cyl without replacing the clutch master cyl?

If one or the other is bad, you just need to replace the bad one.

Nothing, if the master cylinder is good. If not, the MC will naturally go out on it's own accord. The only reason these things go out is because folks tend to neglecting keeping the clutch fluid fresh and flushing the lines. Water builds up and the metals and seals corrode.
