intermittent CEL code 72 and starting
I have two problems that I've been chasing for about a year now. I think my 4runner is possessed.
The first...I keep getting an intermittent CEL code 72 which is an EGR temp issue. I've replaced all the vacuum lines, the EGR, the sensor, the filter and the VSV. I also used the FSM to check the computer. All items either check ok or are new (within the past year). I can pull the EFI fuse to reset it and it'll be ok for about 50 miles or so and then throw the CEL. Am I missing something or what should I check next?
The second...Once in a while it will not start. It gives the indication that the starter is bad. I turn the key, get all the dash lights and it clicks. I can push start it and away I go. I replaced the starter about a year ago and was fine until about 4 months ago. Now I intermittently have to push start it. I had the starter checked and it's still good. When I replaced the starter I put a new battery in too. I replaced the ground and hot from the battery. I put the alarm in valet mode. I'm thinking it's the alarm because about the time this started, the alarm started acting up. Any ideas on how to either troubleshoot the alarm or bypass the alarm?
