Hard Vibration in Hood, Steering Wheel, and Floorboard
Hello, everyone. My name is Bobby. I'm not really new to Toyotas per say...however, this is the first one I have ever personally owned. I just purchased a 1987 4Runner - 22RE - Automatic tranny. In park, drive, and reverse (well all the others too, but you know what I mean), there is a hard vibration that I can feel in the floorboards, the steering wheel, and the hood vibrates like crazy. I have used the search function to try and steer myself in the right direction...ha ha...and I didn't even have to be told to use it! However, there is nothing like receiving some feedback regarding your SPECIFIC problem. Thanks guys! Let me know if you need more info.
Oh yeah....

if the steering wheel shakes i'd start off with a balance and rotate.... might even be a bent rim.
how does the truck run at idle? might be motor mounts... try putting it in drive, hold your foot on the brake and give it a little gas (not saying spin the rear tires, just a little gas) if you see the engine hop around you need motor mounts

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak Cause it sounds like it running rough. Try going over your vac lines with carb cleaner and if you hear your truck rev up when you spray you have a vacuum leak. OR it could be a plugged vacuum like. I ran with a vac leak forever cause i couldn't pinpoint the exact location and i had to have the idle at 900 rpm just for it to sound even remotely smooth.
or it could be a dirty butterfly assembly or even a clogged airfilter. So check and see if the butterfly is dirty if so clean it and check for the vac leak.
