Frame swapping ideas
Well my work truck and off road pal started sinking tthe other day. The frame is cracked on both sides just behind the doors. The body of the truck is in good shape and this truck has been 100% dependable. Not to mention that all my friends and I love it to death. I'm thinking about swapping it onto a new used frame. I have plenty of junk yards nearby. Does anyone know if the 2wd and 4 Runner frames can swap to a 87 4x4 Short bed truck? And if so, what years. I'd like as many options as possible before I start looking. I can do a little fab work but as always the closer to bolt on, the better.

I believe the 86 to 88 truck frame should be identical. Any newer and I'm just not sure because I think the body style for the trucks changed in 1989, although the frames could still be the same.

That was my thought as well. I PMed a board member here who has a 94 4x4 frame and am wondering how well that might fit. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

your going to need an 86-88 Short bed 4wd frame...
a 2wd frame wont work with the front suspension....unless you torch it all out and do SAS
4Runner frames have different body mounts
Any other year, your probably going to still have to move body mounts
