Defluting 2nd gen headlights
I am going to do a HID projector retrofit on my 93 2nd gen and since i cant seem to find any headlight replacements that dont have fluting on the lenses i guess im going to have to modify the only ones that are available...
and every single thread i find on a 2nd gen retrofit is from 5 or more years ago and the pictures have timed out or have been deleted
Does anyone have any ideas on how to deflute glass headlights? (they are glass right?)
Better yet has anyone done this before or tried to?
If you know any other alternatives to getting a nonfluted lens i would def be interested in any ideas you might have or know someplace that could make some custom lenses or something... anything
Thanks

Yea i know but if i am going to retrofit a hid projector the fluting will scatter the beam and make the beam cut-off blurry and in my opinion ruin a retrofitting job... so im trying to find a way to get rid of it so the light pattern is unchanged going through the lens

it's very very very very easy to do a NICE HID retrofit on a '91 and later 4runner, or the pickups with the 7x6 housings...but these '92-'95 4runners have the weird arse headlights..so it's a lot harder to do a NICE retrofit because of the crappy beam pattern and the fact that you can't change it..
hey RoBatt, have you looked into changing out the grille to fit some 7x6 headlights in it???
there was a guy that swapped to a 1st gen tacoma style grille and headlights and it looked BADDARSE!!!!!! it's in the "hot women of yotatech" thread, within the last 15 pages lol
or maybe swap to a pickup style grille...or a '90-'91 grille? i can't remember what all is involved though.

Yeah i think i found it at one point and a couple more but it seems that every 2nd gen retrofit thread there is was done foreverrr ago and all the pictures are gone

I haven't looked into it but i might as a last resort. I think ill just try to deflute some junkyard headlights myself to see if i can find some way to do it and if that doesn't work I might do that as a last resort even though defluting was suppose to be the last resort but i dont know if i'd take it that far

almost all the threads on 2nd gen HID retrofits are with the '90-'91 4runners..or the '89-'95 pickups lol, you can get the E-code housings..put the HID's in, and have great results

Easy. Find someone with a vacuum table to make you a new outer lens. It's not difficult. Search YouTube for headlight/vacuum table and you should get a few results.
