CV Joints Failing?
So....on my 92 3.0...I have a noticable growl at Hwy Speeds coming from the front end. Could this be from the CV joints? The boots are completely dry and not craked. I have over 205,xxx on them.
Or could it be from the front diff? Manual Hubs?

sounds like a front wheel bearing thats about to go out they make a vibration hum at certain speeds. I have the same problem but its not that bad only at some certain highway speeds its this vibration hmmm sound i have manual hubs sooo i can only think of it being one of the wheel bearings...just my .02

Sounds like wheel bearings to me too. If you have manual hubs and they're not locked the CV joints don't move, and the front diff won't be moving either.

not a difficult job, just be careful when you remove the caliper that you dont kink the hard line. you have to pull the rotor to get at the brgs, when you remove the outer brg replace one of the 54 mm nuts a couple of turns before removing the rotor. use the rotor and the reinstalled nut to 'pull' the inner brg out.
you might as well check the idler arm bushings while you are at it, mudhippy posted a link to a vendor for bronze bushings that are supposed to be a permanent repair.
good luck and keep us posted.
