Can anyone ID this transmission?
Hey Guys,
First post on this site, I recently purchased a 1987 Toyota 4Runner Turbo with a bad auto trans and started a mild restoration.
I'm looking for a potential 5 speed donor transmission in my area, this truck has been on Craigslist for a few weeks, very rough but it may work for my application.

Can anyone help me ID the model of this transmission?
Truck is a 1987, straight axle swapped, seller claims this transmission was behind a 22R which was "not stock to the truck"

I am going to assume it was attached to a 22RE 4Cyl - it sure looks like it
The bell housing does not have a "cut out" for a semi circular plug.
Thus you did not win the lottery and find a R151 turbo trans
Gear driven Transfer Case and no turbo bell attached means its a W or a G trans
the last picture appears to indicate that it is a forward shift.
Its a W56 or a G series
Next step is to put it in gear, turn the input shaft and count rotations at the rear
G had a closet to 5 ratio
W had a close to 4 ratio
but AFAIK, both should fit
