slacker thanks for posting this build up. I've enjoyed the pictures and had wishful conversations with my buddies about going fiberglass.

I still would like to know what kind of budget a guy should plan for when doing a similar project. Do the 4Runners and pickups run the same amount generally?

To be honest, if i didn't invest so much time and money on my truck then I would have probably just sold it and bought one from the southern united states. Problem is I have way to much money into this thing to sell that selling and buying a rust free truck wouldn't even be economical. Once I do the tailgate and rear quarters I should be pretty near rust free considering my floors are great and so is the frame. The only thing that pisses me off is that toyotafiberglass Is all the way in BC!!! Open up a shop in toronto! we have a lot more rust than you guys do I am sure.

I thought the same thing. Problem is, these are some of the more literate posts on here.

Great work Slacker. I'm going to hopefully have an order in for some panels in the near future.

I'm a product of the southern California public schools and i cant spell worth a lick. If you want to think less of me because I hit the wrong button on spell check then so be it. what i was trying to say is as long as people understand what I'm saying who cares.

The reason why I was asking why someone would go threw all the trouble on something so rusty is because iv been there and done that and don't think ill ever do it again. i was also hoping maybe the owner had shared some cool story about the truck and why they had wanted put so much money into it.

On my Toyota I have more into it than its worth because of sentimental reasons. It was my moms truck and then the timing chain guides broke and the clutch was out when I was 15. She did not have the money to fix it and needed transportation so I gave her my first Datusn 280zx that i had built over the couple years before that and she gave me the truck I fixed it and its what I took my drivers test in when i was 16. When I moved from California I left it behind and eventually ended up selling it. The guy that bought it blew it up and left it to sit in his back yard for 5 years. Then one of my friends called me and said that he had put it out for sale. I called bought it back towed a trailer down to California and brought it home and now its on the road again.

That is a good reason to do it.

I left my first Toyota truck at the back of a buddies farm, said it can stay as long as I want it to. Six months later I found out it went to the wreckers. Didn't even get a call about it. Bastage!!!

owner picked it up earlier , and was VERY happy .. lots of little detail you cant see in the pics , or maybe my camera skills are not up to it .. but if you can believe it , it looks better in person .
