That could work too. I guess if you built a frame you could install studs in the back and use wingnuts to make for easy removal unless you don't want to make the holes in the truck to begin with.

I like the ideas in that first link the best. I'm going to head to home depot and find some L shaped brackets and get some wing nuts.

1. 3/8" drive ratchet
2. 2" and 6" 3/8" drive ratchet extension
3. rail of metric 3/8" sockets
4. varying sizes of screwdrivers
5. headlight
6. 3 road flares
7. small flashlight
8. metric gear wrenches
9. pliers
10. diagonal cutters
11. alumaseal
12. and one shop towel to keep all the tools from rattling in the box.

they usually run between 6 to 9 dollars per box. larger ones are available
What size box(s) are you using?

Just wait till they have them on sale for 5 bucks. They fit great under the rear shelf of xtra cabs, and in front of the wheel wells in the back of the box.

LOL! Thanks for the Dr. Strangelove quote!

Anyways, I keep some shackles, tow strap, assorted tools and odds and ends in my ammo cans. I'll get a few more in there eventually and store some more stuff tho.

I have an ammo can for, of all things, ammo and targets.

It also houses:

* Grass (2 bags)
* Mescaline (75 pellets)
* High-powered blotter acid (5 sheets)
* Cocaine (1/2 salt shaker)
* Uppers
* Downers
* Screamers
* Laughers
* Tequila (1 quart)
* Rum (1 quart)
* Beer (1 case)
* Raw Ether (1 pint)
* Amyls (2 dozen)

e: (note to mods: this is a poorly executed movie reference, I don't have a drug collection)

Also, if you extended-cab guys want to keep them from sliding around while under the bench seat, you can stick a swath of 2" Velcro (the prickly half) on the side of the can. Rolls of the stuff can be had at most any hardware store.

I just add all my work to my build thread (link in sig). If you, or anyone else, need any measurements, just ask. Thanks for the compliment.

Love the ammo can. Much more room than the stock console, and I can lock it in the summer when the hard top is off. Obviously, thieves can still get in if they're motivated, but at least it's a deterrent. Thanks.

Sounds like Fear & Loathing...

Don't mind me, just subscribing. I have several .308 and .50 cal cans I use for ammo, but I really need to get some big mortar/rocket/whatever cans. I have seen a few that were converted into panniers for dual sport bikes.
