Question '95 4Runner - Fuel Injection System Problem?

I just yesterday purchased a 1995 4Runner Limited, runs great, but after I got it home and turned off the engine (ignition still on) I heard a cycling sound from the left front. On further investigation, looking into the engine compartment, there is a cycling sound coming from under the right side fender wall, near the fuel injection set up, sort of a whirring thump, sounds like a pump trying to go. Seems only to happen when the engine is hot, and continues when the engine is running. Sorry about my ignorance about this vehicle, but I'm hoping someone can tell me what this is and whether it's major.

Are you sure it's the fuel injection set-up, because the fuel pump is in the gas tank and the injectors are under the intake and there isn't much else in between besides fuel lines and a filter.

My guess is you're talking about the evap canister. Pics would help, and I'm not sure what engine you have?

If you have a 3.4L engine the early versions of those had a vacumum switching valve (VSV) on the evap canister that would cycle and make a bunch of clicking noise (even after shutting down). But other than being noisy I don't think it was any problem or anything you could do about it.

Also if you have a 3.4 engine you may want to look at the newer section of Yotatech here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/foru....php?forumid=2 Mid 95 was a engine/model change for Toyota

Thanks a lot for your comments. This vehicle has the 3.0, though I understand that that engine has the VSV also. The noise you describe sounds right, though, and it happens when the engine is hot (the VSV assists in hot re-starts?)

Oh ok, yeah the 3.0 has a whole birds nest of vac lines and valves on the pass side. God only knows what all that crap was suppost to do. Does this look like the area:
