92 V6 Valve Cover Gasket and Intake Questions
Hey Guys.
I recently bought a 1992 Toyota 4Runner, VZN130, 3ZVE engine (RV6) Australian Model,
over the weekend i replaced the Valve cover gasket, and what a mission that was!!!
so i ended up replacing the two valve cover gaskets because they both had not been changed and were rock hard and fell apart in my hands when i took them out.
I also replaced the intake manifold gasket at the same time.
when i pulled the throttle body off the gasket for the throttle body and the intake manifold, the gasket broke in half.
So what i ended up doing was using a high quality shock resistant gasket compound to replace the throttle body gasket.
when i started the engine back up it ran fine for about 30 mins, and then when i came back from my test drive, i pulled up in the drive way and the idle dropped from 900rpm to about 500rpm and kept surging around 600-500rpm
So im concerned that maybe that gasket compound is not holding properly?
I have ordered the original throttle body gasket from Toyota which i pick up next week,
But besides all of that the engine runs great and no other problems.
and whats happening now, after an hours drive home from work, i will get to to the end of my street and it will start surging around 500-600rpm, but the whole drive home it drives perfectly, its only till i start to slow down that it starts surging.
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
