914runner and Flygtenstein,
I've been discussing with my cousin (TSP-MIKE) about your problems with sensors and tach. we think it might issues with your wiring. 914runner, who did the wiring on your swap? did you get your TACH to work, with that resistor mod? Flygtenstein, ORS did your wiring right? did you try the resistor mod for your TACH yet? does it work? is your oil gauge working? |

I got an adapter harness from ORS. They have a wire for an external tach on their harnesses and I either have to wire that into my tach or figure out how to wire it up like it would be stock (so the reason my tach doesnt work right now is because there is no signal to it right now). I would assume Flygt's is wired the same way.

ORS did my whole swap. I have not done the tach yet, but that is contingent on having time and a place I can pull stuff apart.
My oil pressure gauge does and has always worked fine. On a side note, it is no longer an option to use the new autos for the 3.4 swap. Marlin has finally realized there are some issues with leakage and is taking steps to remedy it. Hopefully things will come back on line in a couple months. Now it is only 5 spds or asking TSP to modify the stock auto. |

repost:
TeamShiftPoint/TPS-Mike - How did you get the 3.0 gauge cluster to work with the 3.4 ECU? I haven't looked that indepth into the wiring, I am just worried about that part. Do you have a web-site with all the swap information or is it all in this post? I hope there is going to be a webpage deicated to 3.4 swaps... along with a FAQ page and resources...

If a guy does this for business, should he have time to share specifics with the guy on the net or the guy in his shop?

you should be using the 3.0 sender for the oil gauge. |

TSP- any issues with the 95 3.4? I have gotten a complete front half cut with only 40 000 miles on it. I had heard they had head gasket problems also, so I wanted to change them out before installing if needed. Luckily the truck comes with everything in the engine bay needed for the swap icluding the hard to find harnesses.

Has anyone in swapping in the 3.4L also converted their truck from auto to manual? Looking at the price difference in the conversion kits and always having wanted a manual, it seems like that might cut cost down. Any thoughts? Also is there any other conversion kit besides ORS's? Thanks

if you have 4wd, you can swap to manual but you can use the 3.0 manual tranny so that the Tcase will bolt up with no problems.
if you have 2wd, you can either swap to the 3.4 auto or the 3.4 manual tranny. BTW, if any houston area ppl want to see the 3 swapped trucks, we're headed to the meet over at Tejas Toyota with Tundra Solutions on Dec 11th http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...ad.php?t=32858

Ya, Im going to go through the oil pressure sender wiring when I wire up my tach. How is the oil pressure sender sussposed to be wiried up? Directly from the sender to the gauge?
Thanks

Holy Cow. What would you charge if I had a sourced engine? I'm currently getting another rebuild put in right now, but depending on your price I may start stocking up on parts to have this done.
Thanks!! Mike
