Well, this project is certainly moving slowly now! I only get an hour and a half at best of light after work so I'm not getting a whole lot done. Fortunately I'm taking the days around Thanksgiving off.
I got the cross-member off yesterday so I could get the front diff off. Today I loosened those two 19mm bolts that connect the diff mounts to the frame. That was quite a work out. I was getting tired so I wasn't thinking very clearly, I got the drivers side off and started on the passenger side... got about half a turn when I realized I was tightening it!! That was a bear to get off after that. I think all I need to do now is disconnect the driveshaft from the diff and I can lower it enough to get my oil pan out.
I've been trying to get to that point for days now, once I get that pan out I'll feel like I can go down hill! It will just be assembly and cleanup. Looks like I'll make it in less than a month - pretty good for an outdoor job in a Chicago Fall!

Well, I got the hardest part done today! I dropped the front diff and pulled the oil pan. I plan to put it back in today and continue with assembly. Here's where I'm at:
No pics of it, but there was a ton of plastic from the broken guides in the pan as expected.

Got the front diff back up today. Put the crossmember back in which was proving to be a real pain until I thought to file down the top drivers side just a little bit. I did that, connected it to the diff first, then jacked it all up into place together as easy as can be. All the bolts lined up really easy and it's all torqued down.
I'm just glad to see the truck on all fours once again, now I can put the timing chain cover on and proceed with the assembly.

I want to put my head on the block today and while I was flipping through my Chilton manual I noticed it said to apply liquid sealer to the corners of the block (before applying the gasket).
Is black FIPG suitable for this? I noticed there is a gray high-torque RTV; should I use that? I also have some red RTV sitting around but I don't see any need for that (it's the high temp stuff).

Finally got to work on the truck for the first time in a week, I got a fair amount done! I got the head gasket and head on (all torqued to 58 lb-ft), torqued down the timing chain cover, water pump and oil pump (which is primed and ready to go). I hooked up the coolant lines on the intake side (with new gaskets), hooked up the lower intake plenum and threw the pair valve on.
Here's proof it happened:
I can finally start buying all the crap to finish this project up (filters, wires, plugs, oil, coolant etc.)

Thanks man, hope you get the fuel lines worked out on yours! All that "unrelated" crap that happens sucks. After I started this project I had stuff happen to my Impala so I've been splitting time between the two. Good thing it's still been nice enough to ride the bike. That's rare this time of year around Chicago.

Yeah I got the fuel line fixed, just still won't start 
But thats good about your good weather, riding a bike sounds fun. Warm weather does too. I was practically shovelling the snow out from my truck to work on it lol.

Still puttin' along here, almost everything's assembled. Still have to put in plugs, hoses, coolant, oil, etc. I'm missing the gasket for my cold start injector and the exhaust manifold coolant line. I also need to pick up the dual temp thermostat from the dealership when I get the chance. Here's what I got:
Lots of stuff to finish up still. I need to make sure everything is torqued down and I have to go through and make sure all my grounding straps are attached. Planning to fire it up this week!
